With Father’s Day being this weekend many people are a little perplexed about what to get dear old Dad. The most important thing, of course, is the thought. It is just nice to be remembered and thanked every once in awhile and sometimes we just need a good holiday to remind us to do that. It’s hard to fully understand and appreciate your parents (and in this case your Dad) until you are one yourself and then your eyes are opened to a whole new realization of just how much your father was there for you.
If you are not interested in giving another tie this Father’s Day we have a couple of suggestions that just might make his day extra special:
- Spend time with him. It really is that simple, but how often do you spend time with your Dad doing something that he loves to do without complaining? If he loves to go to the movies then go to one with him. The same goes with concerts, golf, fishing, whatever… you get the idea.
- Plan something unexpected to do with him. This is still in the spending time with him category, but some of the best memories are made when you just let go and try something new. Go drive go-carts, play around of mini golf or take a ride in hot air balloon – just something neither of you would normally do and even it is a complete disaster, you will have something new to talk about and laugh about (eventually).
- If you can’t make in town to see your father send him on a trip just for him and have some of his friends go a long too. If doesn’t have to be really elaborate just a night or a weekend getaway to do what they enjoy doing.
- Last, but not least, if you know there’s a leaky faucet and a running toilet around your Dad’s house, call Carmine’s in for a really great Father’s Day gift. Have us make the repairs needed so your dad doesn’t have to keep it on his to-do list. If his A/C is on the fritz, having us take care of the maintenance issues will sure bring a smile to your Dad’s face.
