There is nothing quite like a mother’s love. It can endure so many things where ordinary love may start to wane. Mothers endure too many sleepless nights to count; they wipe noses, bottoms and tables. Clean and bandage boo-boos and broken toys. Make breakfast, lunch, and dinner and snacks in between. They feed the dog, do the laundry, rock the baby, kiss the toddler, drive the pre-teen around and try, try, try not to strangle the teenager or at the very least not to scrub that attitude right off them!
Rarely are there any “thank yous” or “I appreciate all you do for me,” but there are smiles and giggles and hugs and kisses. Mothers try to do their best to tame the tantrums; teach respect for oneself and others and, of course, manners.
Moms pretty much spend all their time saying, “Feet off the table,” “Keep your hands to yourself,” “Close the door,” “Wash your hands, brush your teeth, comb your hair,” and “Use your manners.”
Not to mention, “What ARE you doing?”, “DON’T EAT THAT!!” and my favorite, “Why, WHY did you think that was a good idea?”
Sometimes, being a mom is the most glorious thing in the world and other times, well….it’s a good thing a mother’s love never wanes. It doesn’t hold grudges, doesn’t give up, never runs out and doesn’t ever, EVER back down.
Give your mom a hug & kiss and tell her “thank you” this Mother’s Day. While she probably deserves a little (WAY) more than that, she will be thrilled by it none-the-less.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY from Carmine’s!
