The holidays bring a new experience every year. One of the things I love most about the holidays is our family traditions that we look forward to all year long, but somehow, even with traditions deeply ingrained, the holidays always seem to take me by surprise. There is never enough time to get everything done, always a gift that I have forgotten to purchase…or purchased early, but can’t seem to find and that grocery list I spent an hour making so I only had to go to the store one time? What a joke… I still didn’t have everything I needed… I actually made a ham, turkey and a rib roast and there still did not seem to be enough food to feed all the mouths that arrived at this house. It was bananas, but memories were made and that is the important part.
I need to recover. My house needs to recover. My plumbing needs to recover. There is no telling what got flushed, crushed in the garbage disposal or crammed down the drains that now has a few of them moving as slowly as I am. We did manage to rescue the garbage disposal from a whole pot of cooked noodles that a teenager dumped into the sink while trying to drain the water. What is with people in my house dumping noodles down the drain? This is not the first time it’s happened and probably not the last but at least this time no one turned on the garbage disposal in order deal with all the noodles. That makes a mess of unbelievable proportions. This time it was rubber gloves and digging in the garbage disposal before it was all clogged up.
I can’t even imagine what has the bathroom sink draining slowly – the KIDS bathroom sink. Why must they do things? We had a 5 year old put his foot through a window pane. A bare foot THROUGH the window. What does that say about the window? What does that say about the 5 year old? Hard to even imagine what might be wrong with the drain…. a whole tube of toothpaste… a ninja turtle…. left-over Halloween candy being hidden from his sisters? Could be anything, really. We’ll start with boiling hot water down the drain and then ramp our measures up accordingly.
