It’s the most wonderful time of the year and with all that we have going on there is no time to be cold! If you have been wondering about a residential boiler system then here are the answers for you.
Boiler heating systems work by heating water and then dispersing the heat through a radiator. The system will either convert heat through hot water or steam. After the hot water or steam moves through the pipes to release heat through the radiators (which warms your home) it is then rerouted back to the boiler where it is reheated for future heating purposes.
Why are Boilers Good?
There is no new air being pushed, or forced, into your home to heat it. This lowers the amount of dust and allergens that can infiltrate the air because a boiler is simply warming up the air that is already in the room. Less dusting is considered a win in my book!
Boilers are very quiet. The majority of the noise is confined to inside the boiler so the rest of the system operates almost silently which is different from a forced air system where you can hear the air blowing through your vents and into your home.
Many boilers come with special features like user-friendly programming and zoning capabilities. Zoning is a major bonus because it ensures that parts of your home that you use the most are heated the most while others can be kept cooler. For instance, I like to be warm and toasty in my kitchen and den. I kind of want to freeze in my bedroom so I can snuggle down under lots of blankets. Color me weird, I don’t know what the deal is, but it works. There is no sleep to be had in hot room!
A boiler requires maintenance just like a forced air system and every other piece of equipment out there. They need to be inspected and maintained in order to lengthen their life span and run efficiently.
