Ok everyone, take a deep breath and breathe in and out, in and out. We have made it. The Thanksgiving through Christmas push is over. Only one more holiday to go and thankfully all we have to do for that one is to stay up all night and party! This is a little bit funny because I do not remember the last time I was awake to ring in a new year.
Unless you are big on after Christmas shopping all you have to do now is rest a little and put all the decorations away again. I don’t know about you but I love putting them up and just begrudge putting them away again. I also only leave the house to make returns and stock up on Christmas paper plates and napkins for next year. With the number of people in my house any dish that I don’t have to run through the dishwasher or wash by hand is a small little blessing that I am completely thankful for.
Remember that this time of year is rough on your plumbing. With all the extra people in and out of your home there is no telling what has been flushed down your toilet or how many times. That doesn’t even include all the extra food that has been made and the random things that have gone down your garbage disposal. We all know people assume garbage disposals can handle anything, but that is simply not true. My dishwasher (and oven) was pretty much on for 14 hours a day the last few days so if that was the case for you too, be on the lookout for small backups around your house.
If you notice a drain (or multiple drains) in your house moving slowly, call a plumber. Something is amiss and it needs to be sorted out before you have a major back-up in your home. If you notice water backing up in your tubs or showers definitely call us right away. Many times if you call at the first sign of trouble it is a much less costly repair than if you wait until you have a major problem to deal with. The big expenses come when it is necessary to dig up lawns, tear out pipes and perform major work in order to correct the problem. The best thing to do is try to avoid all that by getting professional help sooner rather than later.
We hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday season and found a way to bring a little joy to others this year. Please call Carmine’s at 203-791-8089 at the first sign of trouble and let us help you avoid major plumbing expenses.
