There are few things more annoying than low water pressure. Just try taking a shower or washing dishes without the pressure on full blast, it is no fun at all. Taking a “dinky” shower sort of makes me want to throw something, but being the civilized person that I am, I would never actually do so. I am the person that wants really HOT water to just beat the dirt off of me. If I leave my shower with red skin and feeling ready to take a nap, it was just right! If I leave my shower wondering if there was enough water pressure to even wash the soap away, I feel as if it was a complete waste of time.
Now to get back on topic…Sometimes, you may have low water pressure just because you have too many things going at one time – for example – if someone’s in the shower, you are watering the lawn and the washing machine is filling up water – you will most definitely have a drop in water pressure.
There are many other reasons why you may have low water pressure, but this week we will go over just a few:
Corrosion – if you live in a home with older pipes they may have become corroded which is restricting your water flow. You will definitely need a professional to diagnosis and fix this.
Clogs – if you have just one faucet that has low pressure and everywhere else in your house seems to be normal, then you may just have a clogged or corroded screen. Try removing the screen and either cleaning it or replacing it. If this does not solve your problem, call a plumber.
Water leaks – this is one dreaded by everyone…you can check to see if you have a leak by looking at your water meter when you KNOW there no water running in the house, if it is still going call a professional immediately. You will also know you have a leak when the extremely high water bill comes in.
