Be Comfortable Like Goldilocks… Check if Zoning Your Home is Right for You
If you feel a little like a modern day Goldilocks in your own home, (“this room is too hot, this room is too cold…ahhh, this room is just right…”), zoning your home is the answer for you.
We all have rooms or complete floors in our homes that we just do not use on a day to day basis. Or we have rooms that we do use daily but because of a vaulted ceiling or windows that are in direct sunlight we have trouble keeping the room at just the right temperature.
Zoning your home involves using multiple thermostats wired to a control panel. The control panel then operates dampers within your duct work after assessing the temperature of each room. This works wonderfully well for keeping everyone comfortable, but not wasting energy (and money) heating and cooling areas that are not used often. The U.S. Department of Energy says 56% of household energy is used on heating and cooling our homes each year and that number can be greatly reduced by using programmable thermostats and installing a zoning system.
